Patrick J. Flanagan, of Syracuse, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Monday, December 4, 2023, at the age of 79. He was born on October 21, 1944, in Adrian, Michigan to his parents Patrick and Florine B. Flanagan (Scott).
After graduating from high school in Adrian, Michigan, Patrick continued his education and received his associate degree in accounting. He then embarked on a career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and retired before the age of 60. Patrick's sharp mind and meticulous nature allowed him to excel in his profession.
While Patrick was dedicated to his work, his true passion resided in the love he had for his family. On August 20, 1966, Patrick married Sandra Plymale. Together they raised their six wonderful children. He cherished every moment spent with family and created countless cherished memories. Holidays, family dinners, and camping were especially treasured times for Patrick. Whether gathered around the table playing a game of Qwirkle or engaged in conversations during celebrations, he valued these moments as opportunities to strengthen the bond between loved ones.
Faith played a significant role in Patrick's life, acting as an anchor during both joyous occasions and challenging times. He was a longtime member of St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church in Syracuse and served on their financial committee. His strong faith provided comfort and solace throughout his journey in life. Along with being a committed member of the church, Patrick was also a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Syracuse Council 6323 and a member of the Warsaw Council 1974.
Patrick's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew him. His memory will be cherished by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; children, Alane (the late, Don), Valerie, Theresa (Jeremy), Patrick III, Beverly, and Tony (Jenn); grandchildren, Dusty (Kelly), Denny (Josie), Daniel (Taylor), Tiffany Jessica, Patrick IV, Sean, and Emma; as well as great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Aubree, Emily, Cassidy, Colton, Levi, Trenton, Noah, Abel, and Ember.
