Patrick Joseph Foley Jr.

Patrick Joseph Foley, Jr., "Joe", of Mashpee, formerly of Allston, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on December 10 after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Catherine "Katie" (Brown) Foley, with whom he shared 56 blessed years of marriage.
Joe was born July 6, 1942, in Boston, MA to the late Patrick Joseph Foley, Sr. and Helen (Walsh) Foley. Soon after high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal. Following his time in the service, Joe spent 36 years at Boston Water and Sewer Commission, where he retired as Chief Operation Officer. He was also a longstanding member of both the American Water Works Association and the New England Water Works Association.
A charitable man and a true power of example in the art of giving back, Joe was always helping others in any way he could. With almost two decades volunteering with the Toys for Tots program in Boston, he took great pride in his work there, enhancing the lives of local families in need.
An avid reader often immersed in a book or the newspaper, Joe also loved the great outdoors. He enjoyed biking and travel, and each new discovery and worldly adventure alongside Katie. He especially enjoyed gardening and landscaping, creating the beautiful grounds they both shared.
But more than anything else in this world, Joe loved his family. The importance of family prevailed in absolutely everything he did. And as a tribute to his compassion and commitment to those family and friends he held most dear, his legacy will forever endure.
Joe is survived by his wife Katie Foley of Mashpee, MA; his son, Mark Foley, wife Katherine, and their two children Caroline and Amanda Foley, all of Durham, NC; son Sean Foley, wife Rosie, and their three children, Declan, Ciara, and Brian Foley, all of Milton, MA; his daughter Nicole Korsak and her two children, Caitlin and Charlie Korsak, all of Walpole, MA; and his sister, Sister Ellen Foley, S.N.D., of Melrose, MA.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service 11:00 am at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 74 Algonquin Ave. (RTE 151), Mashpee. Burial will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, at 12:30 pm.
