Patrick Allen Locke, Sr.

Please join our family in a Memorial Service honoring the life of Patrick A. Locke, Sr., 65, who passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023. The celebration will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, Louisiana at 11:00 a.m.  Officiating will be longtime best friend, Reverend Miles Cook, of Little Rock, Arkansas. Guests are encouraged to dress casual, sporting LSU attire or their favorite team colors.

Pat was born March 2, 1958, in Laurel, Mississippi, to Emma Catherine White Locke and Walter Echols Locke, Jr.

Preceding him in death are his parents and numerous aunts, uncles, several cousins and way too many close friends.

He is survived by his two sons, Patrick A. Locke, Jr., and Isaac D. Locke, of Montgomery, Texas; two daughters, Sydney Elizabeth Locke, of The Woodlands, Texas and Patricia Catherine Locke, of Shreveport, Louisiana; a brother, Steve Locke and wife, Karen, of Houston, Texas; sisters, Lisa Birmingham and husband, Sam, of Bossier City, Louisiana, Melinda Rhea Tadlock and husband, Bob, of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Laurie Brummer  and husband, Tommy, of Shreveport, Louisiana and numerous nieces and nephews and their children.

Pat was a 1976 graduate from C.E. Byrd High School, where he developed lifelong friendships and played football, baseball, and basketball.  His love of sports continued as he attended Louisiana State University – Shreveport, where he enjoyed playing intramural football and received a bachelor’s degree in journalism. While in college Pat held several part time jobs, his favorite of which was writing sports articles for the Shreveport Times. Even after graduation, he continued to write articles on local high school sports as a sports editor for the Times.  He found his true calling when he went to work as a Right-of-Way Agent and Petroleum Landman.  Pat had a love and passion for the land business.  Meeting people and helping negotiate deals were two skills he excelled in.  Pat had a long line of successful companies in the Oil and Gas Industry and truly “just enjoyed the work.”

Pat’s love for sports never faded.  He was proud to say he ran a few marathons and participated in several triathlons before deciding that golf was a sport he could enjoy. He was a loyal fan of the LSU Tigers and a proud member of the Tiger Athletic Foundation.  

Pat had a larger-than-life personality.  He was quick witted, intelligent and loved to make people laugh. His generosity for others was beyond comparison. Giving people experiences to create lasting memories was one of his most defining characteristics.  Pat loved the beach, traveling and learning his family history. He also enjoyed singing, playing his guitar and spending the holidays with family.  However, the greatest love in Pat’s life was his children. He was as proud as any father could be.  He loved being involved in all the activities that they participated in and if he wasn’t coaching their team, he was coaching on the sidelines. He loved watching them grow up and spending time with them any chance he could.  He was always there to help make life a little easier and support them in everything they chose to do.  

The family would like to thank the many people who have shown their love and support during this time.
