Graveside services for Robert L Lance, 85, will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, 11:30 AM at the Lay cemetery in Benton, Louisiana with visitation beginning at 10:30 AM. Officiating will be Richard Beeman and Mike Palmer, pastor of Red River Baptist Church.

Robert was born on February 2, 1940, at Barksdale Air Force Base, Bossier City, Louisiana. He left this life to be with the Lord On January 27, 2026. He lived in Shreveport, Louisiana until October 1989, at which he and his wife moved to Benton, Louisiana and resided there until his death.

Robert attended Byrd High School and graduated from Northwestern State University in 1963. He retired from BaLaR Associates Inc, Consulting Engineers and Surveyors in 1999. He served six years in the Louisiana Army National Guard. He was a ham operator, with a call of N5GHJ, since 1983 and was a member of the Bossier Parish Sheriffs’ Posse Unit for 10 Years.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Delbert W. Lance and Emma B. Lance, and son Timothy.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife; Sydney, daughter Tammy (Wayne), 5 grandsons; Chad, Colby, Cameron, Christopher and John (Isabella), daughter in law; DeAnna, granddaughter; Krista, 2 great-grandsons; Silas, Thomas and great-granddaughter; Isla.

Pallbearers include Jim Pahal, Charles Curry, Lee Underwood, Roger Hooper, John Todaro, and Wayne Reid.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Red River Baptist Church – Lay Cemetery Fund, 3301 East Linton Rd., Benton, Louisiana 71006
