Paula Dea McLemore, a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, at the age of 86. Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, Paula lived a life filled with laughter and love.
She was a proud graduate of C.E. Byrd High School in Shreveport and continued her education at the University of Houston and Centenary College. Paula devoted 20 years of her professional life to Ochsner Medical Center, where she was respected for her dedication and commitment.
Paula shared 46 wonderful years of marriage with the love of her life, Jerry McLemore. Together, they built a family rooted in devotion, humor, and deep affection.
Paula was a beloved grandmother, affectionately known as "Mimi" by all of her grandchildren. She was quick with a clever remark, warm advice, and a knowing smile. Her humor and spirited personality were as memorable as her boundless love, and being "Mimi" was one of her greatest joys. She will also be fondly remembered for her fabulous rum cakes; lovingly made and eagerly anticipated at every family gathering.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Silas and Wertie Garvin, and her devoted husband, Jarrell Murphy McLemore.
Paula is survived by her sister, Diane Scott; her four daughters: Claudia Appel (Kurt) of Maurepas, Louisiana; Rebecca Boston (Timothy) of Baton Rouge; Lisa Stafford (Ben) of Prairieville; and Melissa McLemore of Baton Rouge. She also leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren: Meg Gazzini (John), Olivia Simoneaux (Casey), Blake Appel (Meredith), Drew Boston (Katherine), Natalie Stuckey (Tyler), Catherine Morse (Evan), Rebecca Humphrey (Brian), and Christopher Smith.
Her heart overflowed with love for her eight great-grandchildren: Miller, Parker, and Jane Gazzini; Troy, Roman, and Beckham Stuckey; Wyatt Morse; and Conrad Boston. Paula was especially delighted by the anticipated arrival of three additional precious great-grandchildren in 2026.
Additionally Paula is survived by her beloved Shih Tzu, Beaux. He was her constant furry companion of 15 years who loved animal crackers, cuddles, and cozy sweaters on chilly nights. They spent endless nights watching Hallmark movies and forming an everlasting bond.
A celebration of Paula’s life will be held on January 25, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at New River United Methodist Church 46040 Louisiana Hwy 22 St. Amant, Louisiana.
