Patrick Jude Martin

Patrick Jude Martin, age 62, of Hugo, died unexpectedly on December 31, 2025. He is survived by his daughters Nicole (Ryan) and Kellie (Alex), and his grandchildren Olivia and Cora (daughters of Nicole and Ryan), and Jude (son of Kellie and Alex). He is also survived by his brothers Tim (Pam), Michael (Sara) and Andy (Katie), his nephews Jack and Sam (sons of Michael and Sara), and his mother, Mary Lou. Pat was preceded in death by his beloved father, Roger, in March of 2021.
Raised in Eagan, Minnesota, Pat graduated from Rosemount High School, class of 1982. Pat then served four years on active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps, with service in Okinawa, Japan. After completing his military service, Pat's career included jobs at the University of Minnesota, Bay West, and nine years as a paid-on-call firefighter with the Apple Valley Fire Department. Despite his age at the time (38), Pat elected to reenlist in the Corps after 9/11, after which, he served another 16 years which included a combat tour in Djibouti, Africa, during 2008 and 2009. After returning home from Djibouti, Pat held positions at Pirtek, Ace Hardware and Napa Auto Parts. Pat retired from the Corps in April of 2019 as a Gunnery Sergeant (E-7). Like many service members who served in combat as part of the Global War on Terror, Pat struggled with PTSD and alcoholism after returning home from Djibouti. Although Pat successfully completed treatment and counseling multiple times, the associated health issues contributed to his untimely death.
Pat's daughters fondly remember spending time with their dad in the garage while he worked on cars (he was the neighborhood mechanic), and occasionally playing hooky from school to go to a Twins game. Their recollections include memories of their dad always making them laugh, and getting into plenty of shenanigans with them as kids. Due to his own battles with PTSD and alcoholism, Pat is remembered for the positive influence he had on others fighting the same battles. He is also gratefully remembered for his service to community and country.
Visitation on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Klecatsky & Sons Eagan Chapel, 1580 Century Point, Eagan, MN 55121. Funeral Service on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 10:00 am at Saint Ambrose Church, 4125 Woodbury Drive, Woodbury, MN 55125. Burial is at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 10:30 am, 7601 34th Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55450.
