Patrick “Paddy” McCarrick, of St. Charles, MO, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024 at the age of 74. Beloved husband of Barbara McCarrick; cherished son of the late Charles “Chick” and Harriet McCarrick; devoted father of Ryan (Jamie) McCarrick and Angie (Kevin) Harris; loving grandfather of Julie (Wes) Harden, Tess Harris, Kellen McCarrick, Patrick Harris, Kane McCarrick and Jameson McCarrick; treasured great-grandfather of Jaxson Harden, William Harden and Alayna Harden. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Charles William McCarrick, James McCarrick, Anne McCarrick and Kathleen (Charles) Kellison. Patrick was also a beloved brother in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many.
Patrick began his law enforcement career as a police officer on December 15, 1973, serving with distinction for over 41 years. He retired on December 14, 2014, as Captain and Chief of Detectives, leaving a legacy of dedication and integrity. His commitment extended beyond the police department; he was also a deputy commander on the Greater St. Louis Major Case Squad and a missing child investigator with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children’s Team Adam. Patrick was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the St. Charles VFW, among many other organizations.
A Vietnam Army Veteran, Patrick also served in the National Guard. He was known for his kindness and humility, always putting others before himself. A passionate Ohio State Buckeye football fan, he cherished spending time with his family and enjoyed reading in his leisure time. Patrick is survived by his beloved family, who will remember him for his unwavering love and support. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
