He is also survived by his brother, John (Lynn) Germann of St. Peter’s, Missouri, his brother-in-law Jerry Syberg of St. Charles, Missouri, his sister-in-law Jan Germann of St. Charles, Missouri, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Philip is preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Margaret Germann, his sister Margaret Syberg, his sister Judy Percle, his brother Joseph Germann, his nephew Adam Percle, his brother-in law Perry Percle, and many beloved extended family members.

Philip was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 22,1943 to Melvin and Margaret Germann. He attended High School at Riverview Gardens and later joined the United States Navy where he served honorably on the Navy Search and Rescue Team. He later had an extensive career at Monsanto and M.E.M.C. (a subsidiary of Monsanto) for 30 years.

Philip was a devoted Christian who cherished the Bible and found joy and purpose in sharing the teachings of Jesus Christ. Philip was a 44-year member of First Baptist Church in O’Fallon where he served as a Deacon, a Sunday School Teacher, and served in many leadership positions and committees throughout the years.

Philip was loved by all who knew him. He led by example and was devoted to his family as well as his church community. His beloved Penny, who he would affectionately refer to as “Red” was the love of his life and his greatest joy was being with his family. Philip delighted in his children and grandchildren and enjoyed regular family dinners and gatherings throughout the years. Philip found purpose and fellowship through his church community and enjoyed spending quality time with his friends from First Baptist O’Fallon. He had a deep appreciation for music and was a wonderful singer with his deep baritone voice. He particularly enjoyed singing both Country and Christian songs, along with his favorite song to sing to Penny, “Let Me Call You Sweetheart”. He also enjoyed working with his hands to build, create, fix, and enhance things. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman with a deep appreciation for nature. Most importantly, Philip was a man of great integrity who leaves behind a devoted family who will miss him deeply and will always cherish him and everything for which he stood.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
