Patrick McClain was born May 7, 1961, in Lamar, South Carolina, a son of the late Thomas McClain and Vermell Mack McClain. He entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 11, 2025. Patrick was educated in the public schools of Darlington County and graduated with the 1982 class of Spaulding High School. He was a dedicated member of Sandy Grove United Methodist Church and assisted in many capacities. He was also a member of the Spaulding Alumni Association.

"Pat" began his employment at Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store in Lamar as a stock clerk. In 1988, he began his employment with Aluminum Ladder now CARBIS in Florence, South Carolina. He loved sports, especially basketball and football and was an avid Los Angeles Laker and Dallas Cowboy fan. He also supported the local Lamar Silver Foxes on Friday nights during football season.

Those surviving to cherish the life and continue the legacy of Patrick McClain include: his mother, Vermell Mack McClain; his son, Patrick Terrell McClain; three daughters, Michelle Antoinette (Marquavius Peoples) McClain, Emouri McClain and Ikeya McClain all of Lamar, SC; two sisters, Thomasena (Willie I.) Davis of Hartsville, SC, and Sheron K. (Donald Ray) Gilmore of Upper Marlboro, MD; one brother, Bernard McClain of Lamar, SC; his brother-in-law, Ulysses Faircloth of Florence, SC; special friend, Eunice Moore of Lamar, SC; grandchildren, Kendrick McClain, Paris Peterson and Marquavius "MJ" Peoples; his aunts and uncles, Dr. Benjamin Brockington, Wilhemenia Brockington of Charleston, SC, Gail B. Mack of Greenville, SC, Reverend Wade Wyatt and Elder LaShelia Wyatt of Greenville, SC, Tommie Mack and Sandra Mack of Atlanta, GA, Milton Gerald Mack and Reverend Corinthia Mack of Hartsville, SC; in-laws, Marva McCollough and Vestine (Eleanor) McCollough both of Baltimore, MD, Moses (Margie) Shaw of Lamar, SC, William (Vicky) Shaw of Hartsville, SC, Patsy (Isaiah) Benjamin, Mary Shaw, Benjamin Shaw and Murray Shaw, Jr., all of Patterson, NJ, Sallie Anderson and Emma Jane McCollough, both of Baltimore, MD, Lou Ella Wilson of Sumter, SC, Elizabeth (Jimmie) Garner of Lamar, SC, Reverend JoAnna (Elder Johnnie) Coe of Florence, SC, and Jerline Troutman of Plainfield, NJ; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives, and very dear friends.
