Patrick Payton Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 14, 2025.
Patrick "Pat" Payton, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, at 10:25 a.m., surrounded by love.
Pat was born on April 25, 1949, in Hawaii to Frank and Paula Payton. He spent time in Key West before settling in Norfolk, Virginia, where he met the love of his life, Sharon. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, family, and countless memories.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon Payton, and his brother, Mike Payton. Pat is survived by his devoted son, Shawn Payton; his cherished granddaughter, Shawna Todd, and her husband, Josh Todd; and his two adored great-grandsons, Jordan and Colson Todd. He also leaves behind his loyal dog, Bella-who, despite his claims, often seemed to outrank everyone else in his heart.
Pat was a man who loved life's simple joys. He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, and ending the day with a cold beer and good company. Whether it was family dinners, gatherings with friends, or spontaneous adventures, Pat was always the life of the party-known for his humor, generosity, and big heart. He would truly give you the shirt off his back.
Over the past two months, Pat fought bravely against brain cancer with the same strength and spirit he carried throughout his life. Though his body grew tired, his light never dimmed.
Pat's family takes comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his soulmate, Sharon, and that his laughter and love will continue to echo in their hearts forever. He was, and always will be, the light of his granddaughter's life. He will be missed deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Celebration of life details will be shared at a later time as the family takes time to grieve and celebrate his remarkable life.
