Patrick Schuster Obituary

Patrick Richard Schuster, age 72, of Adams, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2025, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King while enjoying supper with fellow veterans.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Friendship. Father David Bruener will officiate. Interment, with military honors, will follow at St. Leo Catholic Cemetery in Friendship. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Patrick was born July 13, 1953, in Hales Corners, Wisconsin, to Leo R. and Beverly (Shannon) Schuster. He was raised in the Catholic faith, serving as an altar boy and lector at St. Mary's Catholic Church. He graduated from Whitnall High School where he participated in football and wrestling and spent his summers caddying at Tuckaway Country Club.

At age 17, Patrick enlisted in the United States Navy. He proudly served from 1971 to 1974, including duty during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Milwaukee where he enjoyed cards and games, especially euchre, chess, and cribbage-at the Eagles Club. In 1976, while both were working at the Robert A. Johnston Cookie Factory, he met the love of his life, Kristine. They were married in 1977 and built their life together in Milwaukee.

Determined to further his education, Patrick attended MATC to pursue land surveying-a skill he had first learned helping his father as a teenager. He excelled in the field, working for several Milwaukee-area firms before earning his Registered Land Surveyor license. In 1988, he proudly established Schuster's Surveying and Engineering in Slinger, Wisconsin.

In 1997, Patrick and Kristine fulfilled a lifelong dream by building their home near Holy Hill in Colgate. Upon retirement, they relocated to the Adams-Friendship area where they embraced the beauty of the region-hiking the bluffs at Devil's Lake and exploring segments of the Ice Age Trail. Patrick also enjoyed camping and relaxing by a bonfire with a cold beer in hand.

Kristine extends heartfelt appreciation to Father David Bruener for visiting their home to provide Patrick with the sacraments, and to the many nurses, doctors, and caregivers who offered support throughout his illness. She is also deeply grateful for the prayers, kindness, and support shared by relatives, friends, neighbors, and parish members during this difficult time.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Beverly Schuster.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Kristine; siblings: Tom (Cindi) and children Tara and Adam, Mike (Deb) and their children Matthew, Stephen, and Caitlyn, Dan (Mardell) and their children Brian, Greg, and Tommy, and David (Kim) and their children Andy, John, Jake, and Joey; and his beloved black and white chihuahua, Tiny Tina.
