Was born in Yuma, AZ to Wallace G. and Ruth C. Smith on August 16, 1946. The family moved to Tucson, AZ when he was a young child and he grew up there. He graduated from Amphitheater High School in 1964, then served in the Army including tours in Korea and Vietnam. He worked as a diesel mechanic at Wyoming Machinery Co. for 32 years. He is preceded in death by both his parents, brother David Smith of Tucson, AZ and brother Wallace F. Smith of Helena, MT.
