Patrick Hubert Statz, 93, of Waunakee, joined his heavenly father, and his son, Dale, on December 26, 2025. He was born on March 17th, 1932, in the town of Berry, the son of Werner and Rose (Brabender) Statz. He was raised on his parents' dairy farm, instilling a lifelong love of farming. He graduated from Mazomanie high school in 1950. He was drafted into the US army in 1952 and served in the Korean War. He was severely injured during combat and awarded the Purple Heart. After being honorably discharged from the army, Patrick returned to Dane County to work on his older brother, Victor's farm for the next 4 years. On May 7th, 1957, he married the love of his life, Joann Barman. Together, they raised 4 sons, Andrew, Steve, Brian, and Dale. They proceeded to dairy farm from 1957 until their retirement in 1986. Patrick was still able to do plenty of farming after that by helping Eugene Meier, Leon Ripp, and Henry Laufenberg. He also worked as custodian for St. Mary of the Lake parish until 2004. He was a longtime member of the Catholic Knights. He also enjoyed playing cards with friends, woodworking, vegetable gardening, and taking trips to Branson. He is survived by Joann, his wife of 68 years; sons Andrew (Betty) Statz, of Reedsburg, Steve (Danielle) Statz of Waterloo, and Brian (Amy) Statz, of Waunakee. Patrick is also survived by grandchildren Michael (Shea) Statz, of Bottineau ND, Kurt (Tori) Statz, of Bottineau ND, Mindy (Kevin) Swenson, of Reedsburg, and Matthew (Misty) Statz, of Portage. He is survived by great grandchildren Jaxon, Bexley, Coburn, Leni, Channing, and Ridge Statz, Oaklynn Swenson, and Patrick. He's also survived by siblings Roman (Bea) Statz, Herbert (Eileen) Statz, Clara Fairfac, Ester (Gerry) Flakas, Bernard (Shirley) Statz, Lloyd (Terry) Statz, Therese (Michael) Vezeridis, Rosie (George) Schlichting, and Dennis (Bonnie) Statz. Patrick is also survived by a sister-in-law, Sue Statz, and a brother-in-law, John Lutz.

Patrick was preceded in death by his son, Dale, his parents, Werner and Rose, his parents in-law, Joseph and Theresa (Ripp) Barman, siblings Victor, Felix, and Frank, In-laws Robert (Doris) Barman, Alfred Barman, Joseph (Mary) Barman Jr, Rosemary (nee Barman) Statz, Sr. Theresa Barman, Antoinette Lutz, Larry Fairfac, and Joyce Statz. He was also preceded in death by nephews Mark and Leon Statz, Mike and Daniel Barman, and niece Diane Statz.

Visitations will be at the Winn Cress Funeral Home in Waunakee on January 6,2026 from 4pm-7pm and on January 7,2026 from 9:30-10:30am.

A special thank you to Sil Maly and Henry Laufenberg for their wonderful friendships and for all of their help and love.
