Patrick Ovide Whitaker

Patrick Ovide Whitaker went to be with His Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 after an extended illness at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV. Patrick and his wife, Kayla and their children, Trenton and Maliyah lived on Rt. 39, St. Marys, WV with their 2 dogs Jax and Nala. Patrick was born in Parkersburg, WV on 12/01/1988 to Darlena Felter Whitaker Boley and Ovide Whitaker, now deceased. Patrick was raised by his dad, Brian Boley and his mom, Darlena. Patrick was a graduate of St. Marys High School in 2007.

He married his one true love on August 28, 2010, Kayla Kiggans. She knew in 6th grade that she loved him and that they would be married forever. His son, Trenton,17, is a senior at St. Marys High School and plays football . His daughter, Maliyah, 12, is a student at Pleasants County Middle School and is a cheerleader.

Patrick has held a variety of jobs and was currently employed by Galaxy Food Store. Kayla works from home and is a stay at home mom.

Patrick had a great love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hunting mushrooms, skeet shooting and UFC mixed marshall arts. His greatest love was to spend time with his wife and kids and his dogs.

Patrick has several siblings, Troy Whitaker, Lorraine Boley, Nathan Boley, Orlando Whitaker, Ovide Whitaker, and double cousin, (sister) Chelsea Whitaker English. He also had three self-selected brothers: Darrick Felter, Cody Mercer, and Derek Barnhart. There are also many aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews in Louisiana and local. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Phyllis Felter. Patrick was also blessed with a second family when he married Kayla.

Kayla's mom, Theresa (Shawn) Marshall, sisters: Julia (Derick) Smith, Alicia Kiggans, Jessilyn Kiggans, brothers Chuck Kiggans and Alec Marshall.

Patrick was preceded in death by his father, Ovide Whitaker, uncles Robert, Darrin, and Arthur Whitaker, Ronald Felter, Jr., Donald Place, Jr. Aunts: Lori Felter Cokeley and Mary Felter. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ronald Felter, Sr. and Paternal grandparents Austin and Dorothy Whitaker, Bodie and Ute Kiggans, Jesse and Shirley Dowdy and so many more loved ones.

Services will be handled and held at Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV. Family visitation is 5 -6 Saturday, September 13. General visitation is Saturday from 6 – 9 pm and Sunday from 1 – 2 and the funeral will be at 2 pm Sunday September 14, 2025. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the funeral home or to the account established at Willow Island Credit Union to help with expenses. Services will be conducted by his aunt, Pastor Ronda Whitaker (Aunt Jo) and Pastor Keith Vannoy.
