Patsy Gates Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lynch Funeral Home - Caddo Mills on Aug. 29, 2025.
Patsy Jean Gates, age 84, of Quinlan, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025. She was born on January 17, 1941, to J.D. Jr. and Dorothy (Jordan) Barton.

Patsy dedicated over three decades of her life to education, working as a Special Education teacher with Dallas ISD for 32 years. Her passion for helping others, especially children with special needs, left a lasting impact on countless lives.

Outside the classroom, Patsy found joy in the great outdoors-whether it was spending time on the lake, casting a fishing line, or enjoying the simple beauty of nature. She also had a playful spirit and loved visiting the casino, where she earned a reputation as a lucky winner.

Family was the center of Patsy's world. She shared a particularly special bond with her sister, Peggy, and cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. Her warm presence, quick wit, and generous heart touched everyone who knew her.

Patsy is survived by her children: Todd Barrett and wife Kay, Rusti Sparks and husband Greg, and Scott Barrett and wife Anna; her beloved grandchildren: Kelsey Jenkins, Chase Barrett, Gregory Sparks, Harrison Sparks, Julieann Sparks, Blake Barrett, Josh Barrett, Lyndi Dix, Shelbi Figura, and Ethan Barrett; and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her nephews, Wes Cummings and Chad Cummings, along with a host of loving extended family and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. Jr. and Dorothy Barton; her loving husband, Jim Gates; and her cherished sister, Peggy Anderson.

Patsy's legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on through all who had the privilege to know her.
