Patsy Darlene Curry Lorenz, age 75 of Clovis NM passed away on Monday, April 29 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis. Her viewing will be Sunday, May 5 from 2pm-4pm and funeral services will be Monday, May 6 at 10am with a brief graveside service at Halfway Cemetery in Halfway Texas at 3pm Texas time.
Patsy was a strong bible believing Christian who did daily devotionals with her husband every day. She was saved and baptized as a Baptist at the age of 9. She attended First Baptist Church and then always watched First Baptist Church of Amarillo after she was unable to attend in person.
Patsy was born in Amherst Texas on September 3, 1948 to Ola Lee Curry (Huguley) and Archie Curry. She graduated from Las Cruces High School and then earned her Bachelors degree from NMSU in 1971.
After teaching in Dexter NM for a few years, she moved to Clovis NM where she met her husband of 34 years, Royce Lorenz. They celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary on April 20.
In 2007, she retired from the State of New Mexico as a nutritionist for the WIC program. She was very active with her sorority ESA, joining in 1985 and received her 35 year service award. Patsy loved going to state conventions and meetings. So much so, that she got her husband to join in 2022.
Patsy is preceded in death by her mother, Ola Lee Curry (Huguley) and Archie Curry.
Patsy is survived by her loyal husband, companion and caregiver, Royce Lorenz and two brothers, Edward Hulsey and James Hulsey. She is also survived by her oldest son, Alfred Penland, Royce Lorenz Jr, Eugene Lorenz, Brian Lorenz and Nathan Lorenz.
She is also survived by two grandchildren, Nathan Penland and Hattie Mae Lorenz.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at Plains Regional Medical Center for their expert care and compassion during her illness.
