Patsy Wooten, 85, died Monday, September 11, 2023.
She was born Margaret Ellen Patricia Dezarn on November 30, 1937, daughter of Herman F. and Mary Florence Bright Dezarn.
Patsy went to Holy Name School and graduated in 1955 from Ursuline Academy. She earned an associate degree in nursing from Jefferson Community College and bachelor and master degrees in nursing from Spalding University. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau (Nursing Honor Society), American Nursing Association and Kentucky Nursing Association. In 1988, she was nominated to Who's Who in Nursing and was named Veterans Administration Medical Center(VAMC) Nurse of the Year.
Patsy retired from VAMC after 38 years of service. VAMC was very close to her heart. She had many friends there and loved taking care of Veterans.
In addition to her parents, Patsy was preceded in death by her daughter, Conny Patty; sister, Norma Case (Jack); brother, Bob Dezarn; nieces, Robin Dezarn and Bobbie Jo Dezarn; and nephew, Billy Dezarn.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam Coates; and sons, Mark and Fred Wooten; her joy in life, grandchildren, Bridgette, Colleen, Freddie, III, Charlie, Josh, Jake, Selena, Marcie, Curtis and J.J.; and great grandchildren, Ben, Ty, Lincoln, Jersey and Clarity.
Funeral mass is 10am Friday, September 15, 2023 at St. John Paul II Catholic Church, 3539 Goldsmith Lane with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation in 3-7pm Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road.
