Patti Niemi

Our beloved Grandma Patti, also known as Cora Patricia Niemi passed away peacefully in her home on August 18, 2024. Her husband of 42 years, Edwin Niemi was at her side. Grandma Patti would say, "if its the Good Lords Will, I will live until I am ninety" and she nearly did. She went to be with Jesus at the age of 89.
Patti was born on January 11, 1935 to Evermont Staten and Levicie Snodgrass in Bluefield, WV. She was one of 15 children.
Patti and her sister Allie were raised by their grandparents Hinch Snodgrass and Cora Patricia Snodgrass in Mouthcard, KY until age 14. Patti then moved to Culver city, CA where she met and married Robert Sherrod in 1953. She and Robert relocated to Orange County, CA where they had four children Trecia, Jayne, Jeri and Robert. Patti and Robert later divorced. Patti married Charles Reilly in 1967. They had one daughter Shawn. Patti and Charles divorced. Patti moved to Oregon in 1979 where she met Edwin Niemi. Patti and Ed married October 24, 1981 in Reno, NV.
Patti was the matriarch of the family. She was a strong believer of hard work and was not afraid to get her hands dirty. She was a proud and outgoing woman who wore many hats in her life time. Patti worked in food services including Herford Steer, Tom-Tom, Appletree and Uncle Mels. She worked in retail at Jered's Outdoor and More. She was well-known within her community. She had a strong sense of fashion. She would fit the children within the community for the upcoming school year.
Patti was a devoted Grandmother to 16 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She and Ed dedicated many summers taking their grandchildren camping at Sunnyside, Waterloo and Central Oregon.
Patti loved listening to Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash. She collected rocks during her many travels, much to the chagrin of Ed. Patti loved garage sales and flea markets. Her delicious homemade applesauce will forever be a family favorite
Patty is survived by her children Trecia Deveney, Francis Glaser, Robert Sherrod, Shawn Reilly and Steven Niemi. Jeri Sherrod preceded her in death. Patty is survived by siblings Trula Surgeon of FL, Kat Hall of WV, Gladys Rogers of WV, Barbara Weilkie of FL, Nancy Gunther of OK, Gary Staten of WV, Randy Staten of WV and Tamera Pointer of VA. She was preceded in death by Allie Lopez, James Gray, Sonny Staten, Georgia Ranf, Kelly Staten and Delores Staten.
