Patty Cooley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Borek Jennings Funeral Homes - Howell Memorial Chapel on Apr. 15, 2024.
Cooley, Patty
Vermontville, MI
Her Legacy Patty Kay Cooley, 78, passed away April 12, 2024. She was born on March 31, 1946, to John Chenoweth and Kathrin (Smith) Chenoweth and raised in Howell, Michigan. Her roots in Howell gave her relationships that carried her through her entire life. She attended Howell High School where she met Russell Howard Cooley. Patty married Russ, her high school sweetheart on March 30, 1968, in Howell, Michigan. Patty and Russ spent the early years of their marriage in Germany, where Russ was stationed during the Vietnam War. They were married for 56 years and built a marriage of true partnership, always supporting each other in everything they did.
Patty was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, who always put her family first. She was always involved with her children's activities: coaching cheerleading and volunteering for various booster organizations. She did more than the average Grandma and was at every one of Katie's performances. Patty was also an expert caretaker, especially to her father-in-law and father.
Patty was a wonderful artist (though she never would have said it) and created many beautiful things. She painted, wove baskets, and quilted. Patty enjoyed giving her art to friends and family. Full of spunk and spirit, she had a sharp sense of humor and was a force of love and unwavering support for those in her life. Patty was a valued member of her community and had so many friends who she loved. She was very active in her church and sang in the choir. Her faith was incredibly important in her life. Patty is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Her Family Patty will be missed by her husband, Russell Cooley; her children, Amy Cooley Higgs, Chris Cooley; granddaughter, Kathrin (fiancé Matthew) Higgs; sister Toby (Richard) Harlan; as well as many other close family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Kathrin Chenoweth; and brother, John Chenoweth, Jr.
Her Farewell Patty's family and friends will gather Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 4PM-6PM at Shalom Lutheran Church, Pinckney, MI. Her Community Farewell will follow at 6:00PM. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hope Lutheran Church, 39200 W. 12 Mile Rd, Farmington Hills, MI 48331. Please leave a message of comfort for Patty's family at 1-877-231-7900, or sign her guestbook at www.borekjennings.com.
