Paul Hansen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Barbola Funeral Chapel - Berlin on Feb. 4, 2026.
Paul Spoor Hansen, age 98, of Howell, MI, formerly of Berlin, died peacefully surrounded by love with his family at his side on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

He was born September 8, 1927, in Berlin, WI, the son of Harold and Florence Whiting Hansen. Paul was a 1946 graduate of Berlin High School. He was a proud member of the U. S. Army and served in Korea between the end of World War II and the Korean War. He was 1952 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. On June 7, 1958, he was united in marriage to Judith Van Sistine in Green Lake. They enjoyed 63 years of love before she preceded him in death on April 9, 2022.

Paul spoke fondly of memories growing up at the Whiting Hotel in Berlin. He was a successful Operations and Financial Auditor with many companies including Marathon, Harnishfeger, Globe Union and United Technologies, where he retired in 1991. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, jogging, being outdoors, the Green Bay Packers, listening to the Messiah and being surrounded by family. Paul was the best storyteller, sharing memories of the famous "Ice Bowl" Packers game and his time spent in Korea, as well as countless other memories. He was a kind, gentle, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was famously known as "Oggie" after his grandchildren were born.

He is survived by his daughter, Karen (Bob) Brewer; five grandchildren, Annie (Matt) Huffer, David (Amanda) Brewer, Allison (Adam) Migliore, Kristen (Kyle) Burley, Rae (Brandi) Brewer; and 10 great-grandchildren, Abel and Jonah Huffer, Owen, Oliver, Oakley and Otis Brewer, Sophia and Audrey Migliore and Jason and Karley Burley. He had a special love for all of his family, including all the fur babies. Paul was very much loved and will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith and daughter, Lynne White in 2011.

A graveside service with inurnment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Berlin at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel in Berlin.
