Mrs. Patty Minton Giamalva, passed away Friday, February 23, 2024. Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 pm Friday, March 1, 2024 at St. James Catholic Church. Father Jose Chacko will officiate, with burial to follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.
Patty was a graduate of Piedmont High School followed by the Holy Name of Jesus School of Nursing. She resided in Gadsden most of her life. She was a devoted Christian and a long time member of St. James Catholic Church. She worked as a registered nurse in Gadsden for over 40 years, spending her later career as a Geriatric Psych Nurse at Gadsden Regional Medical Center until she retired in 2008.
Those preceding her in death are her beloved husband of 55 years, Victor Giamalva; her parents, Leo and Estelle Minton; her sisters, Louise Honea and Martha Chaffin; and brothers, Ed, Billy, Earl and Lewis Minton.
Survivors include her son, Joe (Lori) Giamalva; daughter, Paige (Scott) McCullars; grandsons, Victor (Madelyne), Alex and Andruw Giamalva; granddaughters, Sydney and Morgan McCullars, Julie (Micheal) Street; three great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Mark Chaffin, Steve Minton, Ted Bennefield, Earnest Wallace, Johnny Downing and Johnny Phillips.
Honorary pallbearers will be Riverview Regional PCU and CCU Staff, Nurses and Staff with Gentiva Hospice and all friends and relatives.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Etowah Pregnancy Testing Center.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Drs. Hemant Sinha, G. Patel and K.J. Shah; CRNPs Mark J. Cobb and Heather L. Wolfe; Gentiva Hospice RN's Lindy and Morgan; Riverview Regional CCU RN's Gracie, Darby, Brooks and Craig.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon, March 1, 2024 at St. James Catholic Church from 1:00pm-2:00pm.
