Patty Smith Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 14, 2025.
Patty Smith, 84 year old former Woodward resident, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2025 in Oklahoma City. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at the Gage Cemetery. Burial will follow with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Patricia "Patty" Ann McCammond Smith was born to Clarence Roy McCammond and Wilma Eileen Wybrew McCammond in Trousdale, Kansas. At the age of 14, during an Easter Revival at the United Methodist Church in Trousdale, Patty accepted Christ as her Savior-a decision that shaped the rest of her life. She lived as a testimony of her love for Jesus, sharing His grace with family and friends through her words and actions.
On December 20, 1959, Patty married her childhood sweetheart, James Joseph Smith, at the same church where she found her faith. Together, they built a life rooted in love, devotion, and faith. They were blessed with two children: a daughter, Tami, and a son, Brad.
Patty's greatest joys were her husband, her family, and her church community. She and Jim were often seen walking together hand-in-hand across the street to attend services, especially when surrounded by visiting family. Their life together was filled with sports games (Rock Chalk, Jayhawk!), music events, soccer matches, picnics, and vacations shared with children and grandchildren.
In her earlier years, Patty taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir, coordinated the Prayer Room, and volunteered at the Pregnancy Center in Woodward, Oklahoma. She formed lasting friendships wherever she and Jim lived, and her love for others was deep and genuine. Her family members were also her closest friends-Wilma, Clarence, Jack, Denny, Jim, Tami, Jerry, Brad, Kari, Josh, Alisha, Krista, Tyler, Montana, Maverick, Ace, and Kate-each held a unique and cherished place in her heart. Words cannot fully express the depth of love she gave and received-spiritually, physically, and emotionally.
Christmas was Patty's favorite holiday. She delighted in celebrating the birth of Christ with family and friends, embracing the sparkle of lights and decorations. She found joy in beauty and design, often quoting God's description of Heaven: "Jasper walls, pearl gates, streets of gold, never wilting roses, green grass."
Patty always trusted in Jesus-His sacrifice on the cross and the salvation He offers from sin. She believed deeply that redemption comes not by works, but by faith alone in Christ. That assurance was her anchor and her joy.
Patty is survived by her beloved husband, Jim Smith; daughter Tami and her husband Jerry Fagala; son Brad and his wife Kari Smith; grandchildren Joshua, Alisha (and husband Montana Dugger), Krista, and Tyler; and great-grandchildren Maverick, Ace, and Kate. She is also survived by her brother Jack McCammond and his wife Connie, their daughters Brie and Talia; nieces Dawna and Dana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Pearl, and her brothers Denny and Don.
Beyond her immediate family, Patty leaves behind a host of relatives and dear friends who celebrated life with her. Her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will continue to shine through all who knew her.
God bless you, Patty. You are deeply loved and forever remembered.
