Paul Alex Carroll, 87 years old, beloved Son and Father, was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He entered this world on November 1, 1937, born to Lilly and Jerry Carroll, in Oak Grove, LA. Paul was a man of deep faith who loved the Lord with all his heart and prayed faithfully for his family and friends. His favorite Bible verses included Romans 10:9 and John 3:16.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, gardening, and most of all, sharing what he had with others. Known for his generosity, Paul never turned away anyone in need. Any reason for a gathering was his way of showing love.
Paul proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1963. He also served as a volunteer deputy sheriff for four years and was dedicated to service throughout his life.
He worked as a boilermaker, then spent 18 years working with his brother at Buddy's Landscape, where he was also part-owner. He later founded Cherokee Construction, a company he ran for 15 years, employing over 300 people. Even after retiring from his own business, he continued working in various roles. A survivor of throat cancer, Paul endured 38 rounds of radiation and 17 chemotherapy treatments with courage and grace.
Paul is survived by his loving children, Paula Carroll Thomas and her husband Jackie, Linda Carroll Demoss and her husband Phil, and Patricia Carroll; grandchildren, Carroll Grimes, Jackie Lane Thomas, Deion Johnson, Lisa Baer and husband TJ, Danielle Domiano, Sheena Poole Henley, Samantha Poole, Christian Stamper, Thomas Poole, Caroline Poole, Derek Brumfield, Abbie Jones, Josiah Jones, Mattie Garner, Dylan Garner; great-grandchildren, Ellie Jones, Onaleigh Jones, Luke Jones, Jamison Brumfield, Meilah Brumfield, Aubrey Brumfield, Destiny Butler, Elizabeth Baer, Ariana Baer, Frankie Domiano, Gavin Ferrell, MJ Lance, Asher Lance, Daniel Grimes, McKenzie Grimes, Riley Ann Grimes, Joey Grimes, Lane Thomas, Aubrey Thomas, Katy Brown, Tucker Bridger, Easton Johnson; step-children, Karmen Brumfield Poole and husband Ben, and Max Brumfield, III and his wife Risha. He is also survived by his brother, David Carroll and wife Kathy, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Lily Bertram Carroll; his siblings Billy Carroll, Doris Keller, Clarence "Buddy" Carroll, and Roy Carroll; his half-brothers Leon Carroll, Joe Carroll, and Bob McDonald; and his half-sister, Willie Mae Green.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jackie Thomas, Jackie Thomas Sr, Phil Demoss, Todd LeMay, Dale Chatelain, and Kevin Polk.
