Dorothy "Dot" Seal Rester, 91 years old, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Friend to many was called to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She entered this world on October 1, 1934, born to Minnie and Clarence Seal. She was born and raised in Buck Branch Mississippi which is a suburb of Crossroads, Mississippi.
Dot was a beloved figure who dedicated her life to her family and community. Upon her marriage, she embarked on a journey that took her to Varnado, Louisiana, where she established her first home for five years. The majority of her life was spent in Slaughter, LA, where she resided for nearly sixty years, nurturing a home and becoming a cornerstone of the neighborhood.
In her later years, Dot moved into Oakwood Village Assisted Living in Zachary, LA, where she lived comfortably and was cared for until her peaceful passing.
As a dedicated housewife, Dot created a warm and inviting environment for all who knew her. Her commitment extended far beyond her home; she was a tireless community activist, always striving to improve the lives of those around her. Dot was also a devout woman of faith and a cherished member of the First Baptist Church of Zachary, LA.
Dot is survived by her son, Ronald Rester (Wanda), of Zachary; grandchildren, Randy and Dawn Verrett, Charles and Brandie Verrett, Lea and Jason Waxley, Beth and Josh Kirk, and Jeremiah Anderson; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan, Lucas, and Sophia Verrett, Alice and Craig Waxley, Alyssa Trabeau, and Brayden Mills; numerous nieces and nephews to cherish her life.
Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Rester; and her granddaughter, Denise Nicole Rester. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Seal and Minnie Seal; three sisters and spouses, Jackie Seal, Dale and her husband Louis Carrier, Gloria and her Husband Jerry Jordan.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation at First Baptist Church , 4200 Main Street, Zachary, LA on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, officiated by pastor Eddie Wren. The graveside service and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, in Baker, Louisiana.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremiah Anderson, Louis Carrier, Jr "Chuck"., Mark Hathorne, Charles Verrett, Randy Verrett, Jason Waxley. Honorary Pallbearers are; Benny Anderson and Paul Kirby.
A heartfelt and special thank you goes out to the incredible, compassionate, and dedicated staff and caregivers at the Oakwood Village Assisted Living Center for their tireless work and exceptional care.
