It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Bradley Berger, affectionately known as Brad, who peacefully left this world on July 13, 2023, in Portland, Oregon. Brad was born on August 16, 1954, in Pasadena, California, to the late Gretchen and Paul Francis Berger.Brad was a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend. He will be remembered for his compassionate heart, fun-loving spirit, and unwavering devotion to his loved ones. As a father, he was a constant presence in his children's lives, never missing an important event and always being there to offer support and encouragement. As a loving husband, Brad made it a priority to nurture his relationship with his wife, Nancy, of over 40 years. As the CEO of Berger Bros, a well-respected lath and plaster company in the San Gabriel Valley, Brad played a significant role in the construction industry for over 50 years. Under his leadership, the company earned a reputation for excellence and craftsmanship.Outside of his professional endeavors, Brad had a deep love for sports and friendly competition. He enjoyed playing basketball, racketball, and shuffleboard, embracing the thrill of the game and the camaraderie it fostered. He was a devoted fan of the Dodgers and USC Football.Brad's commitment to his community was evident through his involvement in various organizations. He was a longstanding member of the San Gabriel Valley YPO (Young Presidents' Organization) and 49ers, and over the years he was a valued board member of the Goodwill Industries, the Methodist Hospital Foundation, La Salle High School, and WWCCA (Western Wall & Ceiling Contractors Association), dedicating his time and expertise to make a difference.Brad was predeceased by his mother and father, Gretchen and Paul Francis Berger, and his grandson Peter Bradley Gunness. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his sons Paul Marcus "Mark" Berger (Jesse) and Nicholas William Berger (Erin); his daughter Brooke Berger Gunness (Thomas); his grandchildren Darby, Lucy, Lyla, Annie, and Paul Maxwell; his siblings Brook, Bob, Heidi, Garrick, and Lynette; numerous nieces and nephews; and a wide circle of relatives, friends, and colleagues who will miss him dearly.A memorial mass to celebrate Brad's life will be held on August 1, 2023, at 2pm, at St. Rita Catholic Church - Sierra Madre, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Brad's name to Tunnel 2 Towers or Homeboy Industries.Brad will forever remain in our hearts, and his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.
