Paul Bristol Obituary

February 28, 1929 - June 1, 2025
Paul was born on February 28, 1929 in Hookerton, Green County,
North Carolina. With his father in the ministry of the Christian
Church Disciples of Christ, the family moved many places
including Mississippi, Arkansas and Texas. After Paul finished
high school he attended college at Sul Ross State College and
Texas Western University. He worked for the Southern Pacific
Railroad for 41 years in many locations. He retired as the
Division Mechanical O cer on the San Joaquin Division. He also
served in the Army during the Korean War where he was
Honorably discharged. After his retirement he served as an Elder,
on the finance committee and was known as Mr. Karmel Korn at
the First Christian Church in Bakersfield. In addition he was a
member of the Kern Kiwanis Club for over 30 years.
Paul married Elizabeth Rose Abourezk on June 5, 1953. They
have 3 children, Paul Edward, Jr., John and Sandra. Paul and Liz
enjoyed many years with children and grandchildren camping
and traveling. They were happy to RV to every State in the USA!
They also traveled to many di erent countries. Paul is survived
by his loving wife, Elizabeth, of 71 years and children and their
spouses Ed and Alice, John and Roseann and Sandra as well as
6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Our family would like to express our deep appreciation to Liz,
Josh, Amy, Harpreet, Hannah and Chaplin Mack for their
compassionate care as well as all the support of Bristol Hospice.
Services will be held at the Bakersfield National Cemetery on
June 18, 2025 at 10 am. A memorial service will follow at the Mill
Street Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Mill Street Christian Church Men's group.
