Paul Douglas "Doug" Brown, Sr., 83, of Akron, Colorado, passed away peacefully at his home on August 28, 2025. He was born on July 28, 1942, in Cullman, Alabama, to the late Paul and Earon Brown.
Doug was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He shared 54 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Doris Janette Brown, and together they built a strong, loving family rooted in faith, hard work, and dedication.
Doug retired after many years as a truck driver in the Denver metro area, where he was known for his steady work ethic and reliability. He also drove for the Colorado Department of Transportation before retiring. Even in retirement, Doug remained active alongside Janette, serving as on-site managers for a local storage facility.
A man of strong faith, Doug served for many years as a deacon of Mountain States Baptist Church and was a respected member of the First Baptist Church of Englewood, where he faithfully shared his love of the Lord.
Outside of work and church, Doug enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. He loved camping, boating, fishing, bowling, and hunting. He was also known for his quirky sense of humor, which brought joy and laughter to everyone around him. His appreciation for life's simple pleasures left lasting memories for all who shared those moments with him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John Brown; his wife, Janette; and two grandchildren.
Doug is survived by his siblings, Ruth Sharp, Pat Brown, and Paulette Montoya; his children, Paul Brown Jr., Sherry Sadler, Steven Brown, Sandra Tinsley, and Michael Brown; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were his pride and joy.

A graveside service to honor Doug's life will be held at Akron Cemetery in Akron, Colorado, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., where he will be laid to rest immediately following the service. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate a life well-lived.

Doug will be remembered for his warm heart, quirky humor, strong work ethic, devotion to family, and steadfast faith in God. His memory will live on in the lives of all who were blessed to know him.

Growing up together here in Alabama, Doug and I shared many, many visits filled with playful fun and laughter. He was a prankster and along with my siblings, Peggy, Max and Charlie as well as his Ruth Ann, Pat and Paulie we had sleep-overs and days of togetherness. Doug loved to "sneek up" on me, causing me to jump and scream then he would laugh like crazy.
In our childhood and early teen years our families were in numerous locations in Colorado where our Fathers, Hubert and Paul worked together in the timber business.
I have one of those frames loaded with old photos that revolve by my recliner and I frequently see Doug. Due to age and distance, we only saw each other occasionally, but we had really good "catch up" phone calls on a frequent basis.
Doug will always be in my heart. We know that he is in a better place and can now be with many relatives and friends.
Many prayers for Doug's Family.
