Paul Calvert, passed away on August 3, 2023, in his hometown of Wichita, Kansas. Born on December 12, 1932, in Wichita, Paul was the beloved son of Benjamin and Eva Calvert. He was a dedicated machinist who used his talents to create many amazing items out of everyday materials. When he wasn’t creating meaningful pieces, or working on cars and motorcycles, he could often be found writing poetry or strumming a guitar.
Throughout his life, Paul achieved numerous milestones and held many titles. However, he considered being married for over 71 years to his loving wife, Mary Jo Calvert, as one of his proudest accomplishments. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love and support.
In addition to being a devoted husband, Paul excelled in his roles as a dad, papa, great-papa, and even had the joy of experiencing being a great-great-papa. He cherished each and every one of these relationships and took great pleasure in creating lasting memories with his family.
Paul's passing leaves behind a profound void in the lives of those who knew him best. He will be deeply missed by his surviving family members including his daughter Eva Buehler, son Andy Calvert, daughter Laura Freund, son Scott Calvert, sister Joy Moore; grandchildren Tammy and Scott Fisher; Paul Calvert; James and Gayle Buehler; Joseph and Martha Buehler; David and Kelly Buehler; Ronnie and Mike Gideon; Andrew and Michelle Calvert; Toni Freund and Mike Marts; Traci and Kaylan Highfield; Abby and Howard Burton; Susan Freund, step-grandchildren Cheri and Kyle Berthold, and many great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Paul is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Jo Calvert; parents, Benjamin and Eva Calvert; son, Steven Calvert and his wife, Diane; daughter-in-law, Vicki Calvert; son-in-law, Glenn Freund; brother, Benjamin Calvert; grandchildren, Crystal Moler, and Michael Buehler., and great-grandchildren, Ashley Calvert and Jaden Buehler.
Paul Calvert's life will be celebrated in two significant events. The first, a visitation, will take place on August 9, 2023, at Broadway Mortuary in Wichita, Kansas. The visitation will start at 5:00 PM and end at 7:00 PM.
The second event, a funeral service to honor Paul's memory, will be held on August 10, 2023, also at Broadway Mortuary in Wichita. The service is scheduled to begin at 1:30 PM. Burial at Resthaven Cemetery will immediately follow the service.
Paul had a passion and love for animals. Because of this love, a memorial has been established in Paul’s memory with the Kansas Humane Society.
