Paul David "Dave" Carter III, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at his residence in Ball Ground, Georgia, on Sunday, December 15, 2024. He was 75 years old.
Born on April 2, 1949, in Savannah, Georgia, to Paul David Carter Jr. and Vera Carter (Durden). He proudly served his country with honor in the United States Marine Corps, as a helicopter crew chief during the Vietnam War dedicating 4 years to his country before being honorably discharged. His commitment to duty and sacrifice for his country were cornerstones of his character.
After his military service he attended college earning a degree in business management. He worked as a buyer and made a career change to insurance sales where he excelled due to his innate ability to connect and find common ground with people.
He was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, his faith guided his actions and he served in various capacities always striving to uplift and inspire those around him.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Sheila and his brother Darrell. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Lisa Carter of Ball Ground, Georgia; together they raised three children: sons Zackary (Clarice) Bowles of Leland, North Carolina, and Mackenzy (Gina) Bowles of Saratoga Springs, Utah; daughter Darcie (Travis) Downey of Dallas, Georgia; his cherished grandchildren, Ryker Burnette, Cayde Downey, Samuel Bowles, Arthur Bowles, George Bowles, Gwyneviere Downey, and two additional grandchildren expected in the coming year; as well as his brother, Danny Carter of Savannah, Georgia.
The family extended their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered love and support during this difficult time as Dave fought his courageous battle with cancer and the grief at his passing.
Dave will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His caring heart, unwavering faith, and devotion to his family will remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to call him husband, dad, papa, and friend.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 3459 E. Cherokee Dr., Canton, Georgia 30115. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor his life and celebrate the lasting impact he made on those who knew him. Interment with military honors will follow at Georgia National Cemetery.
