Paul Edward Davidsen, a husband, father, uncle, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, at the age of 84, in San Marcos, TX.
Born on August 17, 1941, in Washington, DC, Paul's life was filled with a passion for traveling, a fulfilling marriage, and his love for the simple joys of life. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Deborah "Deb" Davidsen, whom he married on September 16, 1995, in San Antonio, Texas. And while Paul met Deb later in his life and they did not have any children together, Paul had two wonderful daughters, Paula Dickey neé Davidsen, Penelope Davidsen (married to Abraham Hzayen), and one step-daughter, Krista Anderson (married to Braden Walker). Some of Paul's fondest memories as a father were raising the girls (Penny and Paula) in Gloucester, MA, and spending time with them at the family cabin on the lake in Bridgton, ME.
Paul was also a grandfather to Nathan, Owen, Wade, Wesley, Raif, and Emily, whom he all loved dearly.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Tallak George and Margaret Davidsen, and his siblings, George Davidsen and Dolores McCatherine.
Paul was a hard worker and dedicated over 33 years of his life to his work at Trans World Airlines, and retired as Grounds Crew Chief in 1998. He was incredibly proud of and cherished his work for the airline.
Paul was a man of Christian faith, especially later in his life. His personal values and strong beliefs shaped the way he interacted with and navigated the world. He believed in hard work and perseverance, and encouraged others to do the same.
Paul had many interests throughout his life. He was a skilled, self-taught woodworker, creating both large and small pieces, including lamps, shelves, a chicken coop, horse stalls, and fences, just to name a few. Paul was also a rancher, and fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a cowboy. He built a beautiful ranch in Seguin with Deb, with cows, horses, chickens, goats, and one potbelly pig named Hamlet. The ranch was just one way Paul was able to show his passion for land and animals. Paul absolutely loved animals, and had many furry companions throughout his life. One of his favorites was a beautiful brindle American Bulldog Boxer-Mix named after Shere Khan, the Bengal tiger from The Jungle Book ("Sher-baby").
An avid reader and moviegoer, Paul was extremely passionate about American history and westerns, which fueled his imagination and appreciation for the American frontier. Paul would give history lessons and quizzes, regardless if asked - which was his way of sharing and connecting with family and friends. Paul was also very fond of traveling and had a deep desire to see the world firsthand. He preferred the open road to the skies - ironic, given his profession with an airline! He enjoyed visiting National Parks and taking long road trips in his fifth wheel RV camper with Deb.
Paul's life could be characterized by his passionate spirit and his handy nature. He approached every challenge with determination and tenacity. Paul had a spirited personality, and his ability to make and fix nearly anything was absolutely remarkable. As we bid farewell to Paul Edward Davidsen, we celebrate a life lived to his fullest. He will be greatly missed, and will be remembered fondly by his family and friends.
