It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul Michael "Mike" Day, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Mike was born October 22, 1942, in Beardstown, Illinois, and departed from this world August 6, 2025, in Tallahassee, Florida. He lived a life that touched the hearts of many, and his legacy will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him. While growing up in Rushville, Il, Mike enjoyed many summers on his beloved grandparents' farm with his sisters. After graduating from Rushville High School in 1960, he moved to Belle Glade, Fl and pursued his passion for cars, while working for Glades Chevrolet. He later had a career in the produce and citrus industry. During this time, he also flew in Florida and Mississippi, crop dusting. After dedicating over 40 years to the produce and citrus sales industry, he retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication. Mike was a devoted family man, married for 57 wonderful years to his wife, Nancy Patricia "Pat" Day. Together, they created loving homes in Belle Glade and Eustis, Florida, where they raised their children Nicky and Brian. After retirement they moved to Tallahassee, Fl to be closer to their grandsons. Mike cherished the moments spent with family, and his sense of humor always brought laughter to the gatherings they shared. Throughout his life, Mike remained active in his faith and community. He found camaraderie as a member of the Elks Club in Belle Glade, where he formed many lasting friendships. He was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Tchula, Mississippi, and was a member of several congregations, including the First Baptist Church of Belle Glade and Celebration Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Fl, at the time of his passing. In addition to his family and community, Mike had a variety of hobbies that brought him happiness. He loved restoring his classic 1955 Chevrolet, flying, golfing and trap shooting. A passionate fan, Mike enjoyed watching University of Florida football games, proudly cheering for his Gators. His zest for life was reflected in his interests, he never met a stranger and his infectious laughter and love for telling jokes will never be forgotten. Mike's life was not without its sorrows, as he was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lucille Day, his beloved daughter, Nicky Leigh Day, and his sisters, Gerrie Day Telander and Marsha Day. While their absence leaves a void in the hearts of his family, Mike's spirit lives on through the love and memories they shared. Paul Michael Day leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience. He is survived by his devoted wife, Pat Day of Tallahassee, Florida; his son, Brian Day and wife, Jennifer, of Tallahassee; grandsons, Joshua, Brandon, and Noah Day of Tallahassee; sister Marilyn Cahill of Rushville, Illinois and many nieces and nephews who will carry on his memory. A funeral service to honor Mike's life will be held on August 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Bevis Funeral Home, located at 200 John Knox Rd, Tallahassee, FL 32303. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause that was close to Mike's heart. Mike's laughter will echo in the hearts of those he loved. Though he may no longer be with us, his legacy of love, kindness, and humor will forever remain in our memories. Rest in peace, dear Mike. You will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered. Dayne Parker of Bevis Funeral Home (850-385-2193 or www.bevisfh.com) is assisting the Day family with their arrangements.
