Paul David Denton - age 86 of Lenoir City, passed away suddenly on July 10, 2025. David grew up at Martel United Methodist Church where he served as Sunday school superintendent and church secretary for many years. David was also a member of Prospect Baptist served where he served as chairman of the building committee. He most recently attended Bell Avenue Baptist Church. He was a 1962 graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan College. After college, David owned and operated David Denton Import Motors for 23 years. He was a member of Lenoir City Fire Department where he served for 33 years (1962-1995), Fire Chief for 20 years (1975-1995). He first served as a volunteer fireman and then organized Lenoir City's first full time fire department in 1985. Beginning in 1985, he served for several years as the Lenoir City Building Inspector. He later served as a state licensed building inspector, fire inspector, and plumbing inspector, and was among the first in the state to be licensed, holding license number #46. David had a lifelong interest in boats, motorcycles, sports cars, antique cars, and airplanes.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Elizabeth Hart Denton; brother, Lt. Col. Stephen Denton MD.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Marine Denton; son Brandon Denton (Stacey); step daughter, Stephani Hall; sister-in-law, Linda Corley Denton; niece, Stephanie Denton Baucus and her husband, Zeno Baucus; great nieces, Isabella Jean and Katherine Grace Baucus, along with other extended family and many friends.
Friends may call at their convenience at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City on Sunday, July 13th. Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Lakeview Cemetery for graveside services. Rev. Jason Sweeten will officiate.
Click Funeral Home, 109 Walnut Street, Lenoir City is in charge of arrangements.
