Paul L. Edberg, age 64, of Portage, IN and formerly of La Grange, IL passed away peacefully on Friday October 3, 2025.

Paul is preceded in death by his father, Roy, his mother, Lois, and his youngest brother, David. He is survived by his brother, Eric (Susan), sister Lynn (Mark) Metz, niece Katie (Garrett) Quick, and nephew Paul Metz. Also, his great nieces, Callie and Evelyn Quick, were extra special to him.

Growing up in in the village of La Grange, Paul made lifelong friends who became family. He was a curious boy who loved to explore the neighborhood. Paul developed his quirky sense of humor at a young age which continued into adulthood. He was an exceptional story teller, and shared his memories with such enthusiasm and passion.

Paul really enjoyed traveling, oftentimes going camping, fishing, skiing, canoeing, and scuba diving alongside his dear friends and family. He eagerly shared his knowledge and outdoor expertise to those who were willing to learn. Rain or shine, Paul was always up for an adventure.

Paul was also a very skilled craftsman and spent many hours in his elaborate work shop in his garage. He made and gifted beautiful wood items, including bird houses, coat trees, shelves, and trinkets to name a few. He stamped each piece with his custom logo. We are lucky to have his pieces to cherish forever.

He fought his battle against cancer with unwavering courage for over 4 years. Despite spending much of that time going through treatments, Paul showed remarkable strength. He never complained and always showed up for holidays, birthdays, or celebrations with his loved ones.

Paul will be missed terribly by his family and lifelong friends.

A memorial visitation will be held from 10am to 1pm on Saturday, November 15th at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Inurnment private. Arrangements entrusted to Hallowell & James Funeral Home at 708-352-6500.
