Paul Everette Edwards was born August 26, 1906 in Drew County Arkansas, the son of Clifton Nathan and Elsie Jackson Edwards, and died October 22, 2007 at Valley Oaks Senior Living, at the age of 101. Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Frances Coverston Edwards, and three brothers, Basil Waldo, Clifton Taft, and Ben Davis Edwards, and two sisters, Dorris Edwards Purcel and Lois Edwards Dixon.

He is survived by a daughter, Sara Frances Yarbrough (Bill) of Camden; a son, Charles Thomas Edwards (Barbara) of Maumelle, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Diane Yarbrough Bunten (Kris) of Chicago, Illinois, David Nathan Yarbrough (Jackie) of Alexander, Arkansas, and Jeffery Thomas Edwards of Memphis, and two great-grandsons, Jarod Everet Yarbrough and William Thomas Bunten. Mr. Edwards graduated from high school at Arkansas State Agriculture and Mechanical College at Monticello in 1926 and moved to Camden in 1929. He worked for Camden Lumber Company and Prescott Lumber Company before becoming an independent building contractor. Many homes and business buildings in Camden were either built or remodeled by him. For a brief time in the 1950's he was a partner with his brother-in-law, Frank Dixon in D and E Hardware in downtown Camden. From January 1957 until his retirement in 1973, Paul was manager of the Camden Water Utilities. Mr. Edwards was a long time member of First United Methodist Church and the Couples Class Sunday school class. He was active in the Boiling Pot Hunting Club and had a cabin there for many years. Mr. Edwards enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, gardening, playing games and cards with friends and family, and building things, especially for his grandchildren. Visitation will be at Proctor Funeral Home from 6-8 PM Wednesday, October 24, 2007. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Sara and family and Charles and Barbara,
I did not find out about your dad's death until today when Susan Daniel Fox told me about her sister in law's death. I remember your dad fondly! I remember how he allowed me to choose my own beagle from a litter of one of his beagles in the back pen, and she was so special. It is hard losing a parent but he is in a better place. Again, I am sorry for your loss.

Sara, I was so sorry to hear about your father. I've often thought about the times he came out to Gravel Pit Road to check on our water problems, back in the good old days. May God bless you and Bill and the rest of the family!

Dear Sarah, just found out tonight that your father passed away. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. When I was growing up, my dad spoke highly of Paul Edwards often. When mother passed, your dad sent a very warm and caring note to help comfort my dad and his words touched me. Just wanted to share that. May the Lord lift you up and comfort you and help you to talk about the good memories of him and his life.

Sarah ...
What sad news that your father has gone to be with our Lord, and yet he was fortunate enough to have a long, fulfilling life. I have many memories of him and his expertise as a craftsman in constructing homes for others.
I also remember your grandmother, who lived across the street from me when I was young, and the trips you made to see her with your father in his pickup truck. A memory that blesses and burns.
Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers at this time, and the Lord will guide you through this.
Take Care!
Jimmy

Sarah, Charles and Family

I'm sadden by your father's death but know he lived a long and productive life. Not many of us had their parent as long as you had him with you. I grew up thinking "Uncle Paul" was a relative and felt as if he was part of the family. He will be missed by all of us.
