Paul Levear Edwards

Paul Levear Edwards, 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Paul was born on March 2, 1935, in Houston, Texas, to the late Refell and Dorothy Edwards. He attended school in various places, and the completion of sixth grade ended his formal education. He was a commercial paint contractor by trade.
On October 17, 1963, Paul married Jewell Dean Gibbs of Lincoln, Arkansas. They recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. Paul and Jewell Dean both accepted Christ as Savior in 1974. A few years later, he surrendered to the ministry and pastored two churches in the Houston area during the 1980s. One of his greatest joys was telling others about Christ and leading people to the Lord.
He was still sharing the gospel with medical professionals as recently as last Thursday, after his fall, in the emergency rooms in Springdale. He said he enjoyed his conversation with the paramedic during his transfer to Washington Regional in Fayetteville. Paul and Jewell Dean have always been active in the church. Family, faith, and friends were their lives.
Paul loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles, old cars, and trucks. He loved talking, storytelling, and reminiscing about the "good old days." Paul was a faithful friend, always willing to listen to others and offer godly advice to many friends and loved ones over the years. God used Paul mightily to encourage people and point them to Jesus and the Bible.
Paul loved his family, but his greatest love was Jesus. In recent years, he spoke with excitement about going to Heaven and often said, "I'm ready to go!"-always with a big smile and a sparkle in his eyes.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Refell and Dorothy Edwards; his daughter, Claudia Harper; brothers Charles, Richard, and Refell Jr.; and sisters Myrtle and Evelyn.
He is survived by his wife, Jewell Dean; his sons, Paul Jr. (Peggy) Edwards of San Leon, Texas, Kyle (Lisa) Edwards of Titusville, Florida, and Roy (June) Edwards of Springdale, Arkansas; his daughter, Paula Edwards of Springdale, Arkansas; his sister, Mitzy Hall of Porter, Texas; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Sisco Chapel. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 7, at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Free Will Baptist Church in Springdale, with Pastor Clark Snow and Reverend Dean Caldwell officiating. A graveside service will follow at Bluff Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Paul asked that memorial contributions be made to ShrinersChildrens.org.
