The Life and Legacy of Paul "Keith" Edwards
Paul Keith Edwards, affectionately known as "Keith," was born on April 1, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio, the first of two children born to Paul and Marcelene Edwards. He peacefully transitioned from this life to be with the Lord on November 9, 2025.
Keith graduated from Central High School in Columbus, Ohio, in 1967. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division for three years. Following his honorable discharge from military service, Keith pursued his call to ministry and earned a degree from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in 1985. Keith was employed with the United States Postal Service, for over 30 years where he provided faithful dedicated service until his retirement in 2006.
Keith was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Ruby, for over 51 years-she was truly his queen. He loved his family deeply and found great joy in spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He took immense pride in their many accomplishments, cheering them on at sporting events, graduations, and countless family gatherings.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Keith enjoyed football and fishing, but his greatest passion was serving God. He served faithfully as a Senior Elder at Gospel Lighthouse Church in Columbus, Ohio, for over 42 years where his ministry touched countless lives. Over the years, he dedicated himself to numerous areas of service, including Director of Youth ministry, Director of Pastoral Care, Director of Sick and Bereavement, Coordinator of the Men's Annual Fishing Ministry, and Prison Ministry. His compassion, encouragement, and unwavering faith left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Whether at work, church, on the football field, or by the fishing bank, Keith could always be found sharing God's love and offering a kind word. His heartfelt desire was that everyone he encountered would give their life to Christ.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Paul L. Edwards and Marcelene (Mitchell) Edwards, and his sister, Barbara Reed.
He leaves to cherish his loving devoted wife, Ruby J. Edwards; sons, Kevin (Cindy) Edwards and Keith (Tammy) Edwards; daughters, Kim (Maurice) Nowlin and Paula Edwards; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; Brother in Laws; Ralph (Darlene) Smith and Melvin (Stacy) Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Keith's life was one of faith, service, and love. His legacy will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
