Paul Fears Obituary

Paul Joseph Fears Junior, 58, of Rockport, passed away on Sunday, November 9th, 2025. Born on June 22, 1967, in Gloucester Massachusetts, Paul was the son of Paul Fears Senior and Sylvia Fears (Bouchie), both deceased. Paul attended Rockport Public Schools and graduated from The University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth with a Bachelors of Science. He was a mechanical engineer and was the Head of Project Execution for the Northeast region for Messer LLC.
Paul grew up in Rockport, a place that always held a special spot in his heart. He built his life and raised his family there, creating countless memories in the same community that shaped him. One of his happiest times was watching his children play sports - cheering them on from both the sidelines and coaching their teams with pride and enthusiasm.
Paul will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and generous heart. Always ready to help others, he offered thoughtful advice and support to anyone who needed it. Paul took great pride in his family and friends, and his love for them showed in everything he did. He held many titles, father, son, brother, friend, coach; however, the most precious to him was "Grampie". Some of Paul's favorite memories were Sunday afternoons surrounded by family and friends - gatherings filled with laughter, good food, and easy conversation. He deeply valued the friendships he built over the years, many of which spanned more than fifty years and became family to him.
Our hearts are shattered by his loss, and the world feels dimmer without his steady presence. Yet even in this grief, his love surrounds us. We will always remember the sound of his laughter, the strength in his voice, and the way his eyes lit up when he spoke about his children. He was our anchor, our teacher, and the one who showed us what loyalty and pride truly meant. His greatest joy was found in his grandson, and in Cosmo his spirit will live on, strong, kind, and full of wonder. Though he is gone from our sight, he will never be gone from our hearts. His love is woven into who we are, and it will guide us for the rest of our lives.
Paul is survived by his two children, Paul Joseph Fears III and Jordan Fears and Fiancé Matthew Marcantonio; his grandson Cosmo Joseph Paul Marcantonio. His sisters; Christine Horne and brother-in-law Bruce Horne; Patricia Fears Ruffner; and Denise Fears DeLesDernier. His nieces and nephews, Meghan Taylor and husband Brian Taylor; Josh Kardos and wife Lisa Kardos; Elizabeth Ruffner; and Griffin Ruffner. His Aunt Patricia Knowlton and many cousins. His two best friends Michael Trupiano and Beau Gale.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester. Burial will be private burial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul's honor to the Friends of Rockport Athletics at PO Box 304 at Rockport Post Office or Venmo @FRAvikings https://account.venmo.com/u/FRAvikings For online condolences, please visit www.greelyfuneralhome.com
