Henry Paul Goans “P.L.”, age 78 of Ewing, Virgina, went to be with the Lord on April 2nd, 2025. Paul passed peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones. Paul was born on October 30th, 1946, in Briceville, Tennessee, to the late Elmer and Dorthy (Phillips) Goans. He graduated high school and began serving his country in the United States Marine Corps. Paul served 14 months in Vietnam, where he was awarded the following: two Purple Hearts, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Silver one star, Navy Achievement Medal, and National Defense Service Medal, along with many others. After Paul returned home, he started his 34-year career in coal mining. Paul enjoyed going to church, riding four-wheelers, and spending time with his friends and family.Paul was a man of faith who showed his dedication by teaching Sunday school and Bible study and leading songs in fellowship. Preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Dorthy (Phillips) Goans; brothers, Johnny and Columbus Goans; and sisters, Thelma Burns, Margie Sieber, Pearl Goans, and Gail Martin. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Linda, of 30 years. Children: Paula (David) Sellers and Jason (Brandy) Goans. Brothers: Steve, Terry, and Joe Goans. Sister: Loretta (Jerry) Vineyard. Grandchildren: Hanna and JonPaul Sellers, Samuel (McKenzie) Goans, Carly Goans. Great-grandson: Zayden Goans. Stepchildren: Melissa (Chris) Gulley and Angela Debusk. Step grandchildren: Hayley (Jordan) Davis, Raegan Gulley, William Debusk, and Grayson Debusk and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2025 at the Green Hills Funeral Home.Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2025 at the Green Hills Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry England and Rev. Matthew Sandefur.The family will meet at Green Hills Funeral Home to follow in procession at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2025 for a 10:30 a.m. graveside at the Elydale Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Ewing, VA. Pallbearers will be Steve Goans, Joe Goans, Terry Goans, Samuel Goans, JonPaul Sellers, David Seals. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brent Little and Steve Braden.Green Hills Funeral Home, Middlesboro is honored to serve the Goans Family.
