Paul A. Hamilton, 49, of Newark, NJ passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025. Born to William and Judith (nèe Hudson) Hamilton, he resided there for most of his life.
A man who will be remembered for his great sense of humor and practical jokes. Paul enjoyed playing basketball and will be remembered for his "unique" strategies in Scrabble. His creative nature was evident through his "Dene" creations, but his greatest joy came from spending time with family, especially during their cherished family trips to Wildwood and Disney.
Prior to retiring, Paul served as a police officer with the City of Newark Police Department for more than twenty years where he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
He was the loving father of three, Hailey Hamilton, Paul A. Hamilton, Jr. and partner Julia Kreider, and Nickolas Hamilton, who he shared with Toni Hamilton. Beloved brother of Susan Helber and husband Daniel, Kerry Dos Santos, Tara Hamilton and partner Joshua Clark, James Hamilton and the late Michael Hamilton. Adored uncle of Amber and husband Corey, Alyssa, Ciara, Patrick, Arianna, Michael and Gemma. Cherished great uncle of Jacob, Benjamin and Harper.
The family will receive relatives and friends Saturday, June 14, 2025, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. with a 3 p.m. service at Shook's Cedar Grove Funeral Home, 486 Pompton Avenue, Cedar Grove, NJ. There will be a repast to follow. Memories and condolences may be shared at shookscedargrove.com.
