Paul Hauch age 94, owner and operator of the West Bend A&W Drive Inn passed away on May 9, 2025 in Dunedin, Florida. He also owned three other A&W's in Hartford, Thiensville and Brown Deer, which were all under management.
Paul was born March 5, 1931 to Oscar and Alvina (Jaehnig) Hauch in West Bend, WI. His early years were spent working on their farm, one mile north of Fillmore, WI.
Paul was a very social and fun loving person. He met his wife Joyce Peterson of West Bend at a dance at the Turner Hall in Fillmore. They were married on November 9, 1952 in Fillmore at St. Martin's Church. She was the daughter of Glenn and Luella (Smith) Peterson Sr. The Peterson's owned Peterson Restaurant in West Bend.
Paul is survived by his wife of 72 years of marriage, one daughter Ann (Hauch) Linn and her husband Robert Linn, and three grandchildren, Carter, Dustin and Delaney Linn, and her husband Sam Exner, all of Aurora, Colorado. A brother-in-law Glenn Jr. and wife Carolyn Peterson of West Bend. His nephews: Mark and his wife Debra Ramel and their children of Random Lake, WI, James and his wife Deborah Ramel of Random Lake and their families and Gary and his wife Julie Peterson and their children of Roberts, WI.
His nieces: Laurie (Peterson) Spors and friend Nick of Florida and her children of West Bend, Joni (Peterson) Lundin of Johnson Creek, WI and her daughter Amy and family, Merrie (Lauzon) Olson and friend Rob Stalk of Clearwater, Florida and her son Jason of Georgia and family and Mary Barilla and husband of Arden Hills, MN. A grand-niece Jessica (Ramel) Batterman and husband Steven and their children. Janice (Ramel) Gerzevske of Warrenville, IL and her children, Phyllis (Ramel) Huchthausen and husband Kent of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and their families. And a very dear friend, employee and caregiver Richard Linnemeier, for more than 50 years. Paul had many friends in Florida who will miss him also.
Paul was preceded in death by the following: his parents Oscar and Alvina Hauch and parents-in-law Glenn and Luella Peterson Sr., a sister and husband Charlotte and Orville Ramel of Random Lake, WI, a brother and wife Lowell and Dot Hauch of St. Paul, MN, a sister-in-law and husband Dorothy and Don Lauzon of Clearwater, Florida, three grand-nephews Caleb Peterson of Roberts, WI and Brian Ramel of Random Lake, WI and Harland Gerzevske or Warrenville, IL. To all my friends and many acquaintances who have gone before.
Services will be held Thursday, June 26th at the Schmidt Funeral Home located on Cedar Street in West Bend. Visitation is at 1:00 PM with the services at 2:00 PM followed by food and conversation.
Paul's arrangements and cremation took place at Sylvan Abby in Clearwater, Florida. His remains were sent to West Bend and he will be buried at a later date along with his wife in St. Martin's Cemetery in Fillmore, WI, on their family plot with his grandparents and parents.
