Paul Ray Hawkins, age 88, of Pocahontas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at Pocahontas Nursing and Rehab. He was born on November 11, 1936, in Pocahontas, to the late Harry and Pauline Edds Hawkins.
Paul was a veteran of the United States Army. Paul was a man who found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep love for cars and trucks, particularly old cars and big trucks, and enjoyed being a part of car clubs where he could share this passion with others. Paul's love for the open road and the beauty of vintage automobiles was something that shaped many of his happiest moments.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Pauline Hawkins, son, Kippy and infant daughter, and leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and cherished memories.
Paul is survived by his devoted wife of many years, Vernola Hawkins, of the home; his children, Darrell Hawkins of Maynard, Carl (Linda) Hawkins of Pocahontas, and Pauly (Anna) Hawkins of Pocahontas, as well as Carolyn Ball and Dian (Chuck) Jarrett of Maynard; his brother, Zaniel Hawkins of North Carolina; and his beloved grandchildren, Clint (Desirae) Hamm of Huntsville, Brandi Burns of Jonesboro, Ronnie (Erica) Burns of Pocahontas, Justin (Amanda Nelson) Jarrett of Maynard, and Jessica (Brandon) Modlin of Pocahontas.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following at 1:00 p.m. at McNabb Funeral Home. Larry Rogers will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Randolph Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Paul's sons, Darrell Hawkins, Carl Hawkins, and Pauly Hawkins, along with his grandsons Clint Hamm, Ronnie Burns, and Justin Jarrett. Tyler Brooks will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Paul's life was marked by his kindness, love for his family, and his passion for the things that brought him joy. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
All arrangements are under the direction of McNabb Funeral Home.
