Paul D. Isabella, 98, of Bloomingdale, Illinois, formerly of Butler, passed away Friday, Aug. 8, 2025.
Born Nov. 12, 1926, in Italy, he was a son of the late Louis F. Isabella and Santa Antonia Isabella.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Paul served in the Korean Conflict.
Paul was a well-known self-employed stone mason and bricklayer. Before he went into business for himself, he worked for contractor Carl Evanick for many years.
He was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, and the 55 & Alive of St. Michael's.
He belonged to the Sons of Italy, the Butler Bocce Association, and he was a former volunteer at the Butler VA. Always active, he worked out at the Wellness Center at the VA, and he participated in SilverSneakers and Yoga classes at the Tanglewood Senior Center.
He enjoyed dancing and he loved to garden. Caring for his fig trees, and canning and preserving the vegetables and fruits grown in his yard and garden gave him great pleasure.
Paul is survived by his son, Louis Isabella of Allison Park; his daughter, Marisa Mondi and her husband, Dan, of Bloomingdale, Ill.; three grandchildren, Peter Mondi and his wife, Rachel, of Elmhurst, Ill., Jeanna (Mondi) Saavedra and her husband, Lorenzo, of Seattle, Wash., and Paul Mondi of Glendale Heights, Ill.; and three great-grandchildren, Oliver Mondi, Jamie Mondi and Isabella Saavedra.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Zuccala Isabella, who passed away Dec. 22, 2021, and his two brothers.
Friends will be received in the Martin Funeral Home South Side, 429 Center Ave., Butler, on Friday, Aug. 15, from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Aug. 16, at 10 a.m. at All Saints Parish, St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler, with the Rev. Kevin C. Fazio officiating.
Military honors will be accorded at the church by American Legion Post 778, VFW Post 249, and VFW Post 499.
