Paul Janquart Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lyndahl Funeral Home on Mar. 23, 2023.
Paul N. Janquart, affectionately known to many as Papa Paul, of Green Bay, passed away at age 73 on, March 19, 2023 at UW Hospital in Madison, Wi surrounded by his loving family.
Paul was born August 30, 1949 in Green Bay, son of the late Norman and Laverne Janquart and spent his youth growing up in Allouez.
Paul attended St. Matthews Catholic school and worked odd jobs to pay his own tuition to Abbot-Penning Catholic High School. Paul was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Agnes. After high school, Paul entered the US Army for four years as a culinary specialist. Upon his return to the Green Bay Area, Paul was employed as a millwright in printed napkin at Fort Howard (later Georgia Pacific) and retired after 30 years. Paul was fond of checking his handiwork on the napkins any time he went to eat at a restaurant. Paul was a selfless humanitarian, family man, and friend. He was an exhaustive plasma donor and donated valuable life-extending stem cells to his beloved brother Jerry. He loved to bring his children, grandchildren, family, and friends to Green Bay Packers games without ever expecting anything in return (besides a cold beer.) Paul was an honorary Yooper, endearing himself to the community in Munising, MI where his daughter Carla's family resides. Papa Paul never missed an event if it involved his children or grandchildren, always on the sidelines of his son Shane's soccer games and often making the three hour drives to the U.P. to catch a dance recital, sports game, or school function. He would make the trip up north regularly just to spend time with his family and help his son-in-law Steve with house projects and enjoy a cup of coffee afterward. Paul was an avid fisherman and for the past 49 years would embark on an annual Musky fishing trip with his brothers and honorary brothers. He was a part of golf, bowling, and dartball leagues and made many good friends along the way. He was always working on improving his golf game. Paul enjoyed spending his summer days meticulously caring for his lawn and home. Paul was a longtime trustee at the Eagle's Club in Green Bay preparing many chicken dinners and liver frys, putting his cooking skills from his Army days to use for the community. He also loved to help cook for any family gathering. You could often find him enjoying a beer and catching up with his friends at Cropsey's bar. His grandchildren and great-grandchild "Attaboy" were the light of his life and he would always be smiling if they were around. "Papa Paul's Bed and Breakfast" was always open to family or friends and he would be quick to offer you food or a cold beer if you were a guest.
Paul's family would like to thank his nurses and doctors at UW Health University Hospital in Madison for their exemplary care, and his caretakers and friends at Odd Fellow Nursing Home for their tender, loving care during his stay there.
Survivors include his children: Carla (Steve) Erickson and Shane (Laurie Thompson) Judd; grandchildren: Nicholas, Mitchell, and Kelli Erickson, Charlotte and Alex Thompson; precious great grandson Atticus Erickson; siblings: Alan (Gale Janquart), David (Candy Janquart), Rick, Julie (Julie Van Lannen), Bob (Kathi Janquart), Tom (Alice Janquart), Joe (Michelle Crooks): sisters-in-law: Darlene Janquart and Joyce Janquart; and brother-in-law and great friend Will Hogan. Paul was preceded in death by parents: Norman & Laverne Janquart; brothers: Tim & Jerry Janquart; sister Mary Hogan; sister-in-law Kellie Janquart; nephew Dan Janquart; and best friend Jim Witynski.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Ave. Attendees of Thursday's visitation are asked to wear their Green and Gold as we say goodbye to Paul in the shadows of Lambeau. Patrick Beno with burial to take place at Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
