Paul Jasmin Obituary
April 18, 1935 - May 24, 2025
Paul Arthur Jasmin was born April 18, 1935, in Helena, Mont. He graduated from Helena High School in 1953. During school he worked part time for Fligelman's Department Store and with Bob Morgan at the Montana Historical Society. As a high school thespian, he performed under the direction of Doris Marsolais Marshall and with the Brewery Theater and the Frontier Town Players.
After graduating from high school, he took off for Europe and Africa on the steamship Andria Doria and painted pictures for his keep. Later he lived in New York and San Francisco for a time working as a struggling actor and artist. He then settled in Los Angeles as a professional painter, illustrator, and photographer and photographic instructor at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Calif. He created three acclaimed photography books, had several one-man shows in the United States and abroad, did commissioned portraits of Liza Minnelli, Barbara Streisand and others, freelanced for Esquire, American and Italian Vouge and others. He was the most colorful and Bohemian character who lived a full, successful life.
He is survived by his brother, Ed "Bud" Jasmin (Bobbi); nieces, Nicci Jasmin and Brooke Jasmin Carter, all of Helena; nephews, Jerry Jasmin, of Williston, N.D., Todd Jasmin, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; half-sister, Marcia Driskell, of Great Fals. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Jasmin; his mother, Winnie Jasmin; and niece; Lynn Marie Jasmin.
Paul passed away in California on May 24, 2025. Paul was cremated there. His cremated remains will be buried in the family plot at Resurrection Cemetery in Helena.
