Paul Anthony Kilmartin passed away peacefully in his home on February 1 at the age of 95 surrounded by his wife and daughters.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Frank and Marie Kilmartin and his devoted brothers Frank and Richard. Paul is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Bridget (Breda) and was the devoted father of Marie (Gary) Schmitt and Sharon (Marcel) van Rooijen. He was the cherished Grandpa to Sarah, Ben and Emily Schmitt and Paul and Will van Rooijen. He was also the much loved uncle of Linda Shah, Frank Kilmartin (dec.), Margie Spano, Michael Kilmartin, Mia Smitt, Pam Kammerer, Dick Kilmartin, Jack Kilmartin and Jill Waldschmidt and his faithful weekly football watching companion, Mike Spano. He also leaves behind a loving sister-in law and nieces and nephews in Ireland. His compassionate caregivers Sarah Burbano and Raquel Ridoloso will dearly miss him.
Paul was a native of San Francisco, attending St. Ignatius College Preparatory and the University of San Francisco. After a career as a pilot for many years, he became a general contractor in order to stay close to his home and family in Ben Lomond.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 7 at 12:30pm at The Shrine of St. Joseph, 544 West Cliff Drive, Santa Cruz, CA 95060. Private family burial to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colma. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Valley Churches United, P.O. Box 367, Ben Lomond, California 95005 or vcum.org or to the Ben Lomond Fire Protection District, 9430 Highway 9, Ben Lomond, California 95005 or Department Auxiliary, benlomondfd.com.
