Paul Richard McNaughton

Paul Richard McNaughton, age 71, of Burr Ridge, IL passed away peacefully at home on September 16, 2025.

Paul was the loving husband of his childhood sweetheart Lynette McNaughton, (nee Schroeder); beloved father of Paul (Erin) McNaughton Jr. and Kelly (Kevin) Utigard; cherished grandfather ("Papa") of Maddie, Claire, Lily, and George McNaughton, and Abby and Teddy Utigard; dear brother of Joyce McNaughton, the late Karen Reilly, the late William (Mary) McNaughton, and the late James (Karen) McNaughton; fond brother in-law of Rod Schroeder; dearest uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Paul lived a life full of purpose, passion and deep devotion to those he loved. A natural leader with a fierce entrepreneurial spirit, he built and ran his own successful business for over 40 years, which stood as a testament to his work ethic, vision and integrity. He was a mentor to many and a friend to all. When Paul entered a room everyone knew it - his energy was infectious. His big personality was matched only by his big heart. He had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen and valued; he could strike up a conversation with anyone and leave them feeling like they'd known him for years. His generosity knew no bounds.

But arguably Paul's most enduring legacy is the family he built with Lynette, his wife of 43 years. He was happiest when surrounded by loved ones and laughter, whether sharing a drink or a "sandwich," or a swim with his grandchildren at Powers Lake. He showed up for everyone and was always the life of the party. While our hearts are heavy with his loss, we will never forget Paul's lessons to live loudly, laugh often and love without reservation.

The family will be hosting a Visitation on Friday, September 19th from 4-8pm at Sullivan Funeral Home, 60 South Grant Street, Hinsdale. A celebration of Paul's life will be held on Saturday, September 20th at 10am at Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 7800 South McCarthy Road, Palos Heights, IL. Interment Private.
