It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul M. Molchan. He passed away peacefully in the early hours of Saturday, June 7, 2025, with his family by his side. Paul drew his last breath here on Earth, but his first breath in Heaven.
Paul was born in Steubenville on November 18, 1947, the son of Paul and Mary Kay (Abrams) Molchan.
Paul graduated from Catholic Central High School and attended Milligan State College in Tennessee on a baseball scholarship, earning three MVPs and held the record for triples. He graduated with a BS degree in Health and Physical Education, later furthering his skills as a Special Education teacher.
Paul organized and coached the Special Olympics in Jefferson County for two years and was instrumental in setting up a Special Olympics program in Hancock County. He participated in the Senior Olympics in 2004, where he won second place in the 200-meter dash, qualifying for Nationals and was an energetic man who enjoyed his family and his life.
He retired from Cleveland Cliffs after forty years of service as a line operator on #2 platers.
A devoted husband, Paul met his forever love, Louanne (Rexroad) Molchan, in Weirton. They were married for thirty-nine years, being blessed with two stepsons, Eric and Chad Evans, whom he raised and loved dearly as his own.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his brother Christopher Molchan and his stepson Eric Evans.
Paul is survived by his wife, Louanne (Rexroad) Molchan; son, Chad Evans (Jamala Reeves); and brother-in-laws, Bob Rexroad and Bill (Randi) Rexroad.
He attended Chestnut Ridge Church in Morgantown, WV, Pastored by Josh Rhodes.
Paul's wish for cremation was honored.
He was cremated at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home Crematory, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. 26062.
A Celebration of Paul's Life will be announced by his family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul's name to the Special Olympics of West Virginia at SOWV.org or Stjude.org.
