Paul Vincent Nevitt, 61, passed away on August 9, 2025, in
Louisville, Kentucky. Born on April 29, 1964, in Cheverly, Maryland, Paul lived a life defined by curiosity, creativity, and a deep love for both the scientific and the supernatural.
A graduate of Trinity High School, Paul went on to earn an Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Louisville Speed School. His passion for electronics was inherited from his father and became a lifelong pursuit that shaped much of his personal and professional life. Whether designing custom speakers or tinkering with sound systems, Paul was always working on his next invention-often blending technical precision with artistic flair.
Music was at the heart of Paul's world. A gifted multi-instrumentalist best known for his keyboard prowess, he performed in numerous bands throughout his life. When not on stage himself, he could often be found behind the scenes ensuring top-quality audio for fellow musicians. His talents extended beyond performance to recording and producing music-skills he used generously to support friends and collaborators across the local music scene.
Paul's interests were as eclectic as they were passionate. He was an avid ghost hunter and served as the resident recording and sound expert for local paranormal investigation clubs. He had a fascination with how things worked-whether it was a vintage radio or an unexplained phenomenon-and approached each mystery with equal parts skepticism and wonder.
He had a zest for life's flavorful side as well: growing hot peppers in his garden, crafting homemade salsa with just the right kick, and brewing beer that reflected his inventive spirit. A licensed ham radio operator, Paul enjoyed connecting with people near and far through the airwaves. And every evening at precisely 7:30 p.m., he could be found faithfully watching *Jeopardy!*, testing his encyclopedic knowledge alongside the contestants-a ritual so sacred that those who knew him well knew better than to call during that half hour.
Paul shared nearly 33 years of companionship with Joan Scoggin Stewart, who stood by him through life's many adventures. He is also remembered by his brother, John Nevitt; sister-in-law, Anne Nevitt; niece, Jessica Nevitt and her fiancé, Skylar Hack; nephew, Jake Nevitt; and many other extended family members who cherished his presence at every gathering-where he was often the last to arrive but always the last to leave.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Margie (Wahl) Nevitt. His circle of extended family, fellow musicians and hobbyists who have gone before him is too vast to name, but includes many individuals whose lives enriched his and who were similarly influenced by him.
Paul had a special fondness for animals-especially birds and adopted dogs and cats-and shared a unique bond with his beloved feral cat, Ringo McCartney.
May Paul's memory bring comfort to all who knew him-and may we all remember to never call during Jeopardy!
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 14th, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with a memorial service on August 15th, 2025, at 1:00 pm, also at Highlands. Burial at Calvary Cemetery will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Paul's memory may be made to the Heuser Hearing and Language Academy or the
American Heart Association.
