THE ECHO OF GIANTS
(for Teddy)
He could, by his mere presence, clear the gloom. He was oxygen.
He was the lighthouse by which others navigated.
No enemies could ever claim his name.
When a giant exits,
colossal silence remains.
He led with his smart and hired smarter.
He didn´t ask for excellence sometimes, just always.
No oversized egos ever impressed him.
When a giant departs,
the enormity of their footprints never fade.
He was welcomed in boardroom and mailroom in equal measure.
He would attract people like planets to a sun.
No one wanted out of his orbit.
When a giant vanishes,
their absence magnifies.
He was fallible which made him perfect for this life.
He was recognized by throngs but truly known to few.
Now, no more titans standing guard.
When giants fall silent,
they leave us their echoes.
His echo - shaped an industry he loved.
His echo - shaped the souls he touched.
His echo - shapes me still...
Teddy -
You were my friend, my mentor and
my measure of what greatness looks like.
You showed me what it means to be both powerful and kind.
May your dream of heaven´s peace be your eternal reward.
- Wayne
