Paul Noel Pommier, beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on October 24, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on December 16, 1955, Paul was the cherished son of an American mother of Scottish descent and a French father, a combination that shaped his appreciation for culture, language, and the wider world.
Paul was a bright and dedicated student at the University of Austin when, at eighteen, a life-altering accident changed his world forever and left him quadriplegic. Though the injury transformed his path, it never dimmed his spirit. Paul faced adversity with resilience, humor, and a quiet strength that inspired everyone who knew him.
Fifteen years later, fate brought him together with the love of his life, Lorena Huerta. Their bond transformed Paul's life in profound and lasting ways. Together they built a marriage rooted in companionship, curiosity, and joy. Paul embraced Lorena's culture, sharing with her the richness of Mexico: its music, its food, and its warm traditions. Their home and their hearts filled with the vibrant intertwining of two cultures, always hosting the best gatherings and creating a true sense of community.
Paul enjoyed a successful career as a computer scientist, a field in which he excelled until his retirement at age 40. His sharp mind, creativity, and patience made him a respected colleague and a natural problem-solver.
Travel was one of Paul and Lorena's greatest joys. They explored the world hand in hand, sometimes accompanied by their beloved nieces, Kattya and Lupita, creating lifelong memories. Their adventures took them from visits to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where they spent time with their cousins Marc, Joel, and John Paul, to the lights of Los Angeles, the charm of Monaco, and the romance of France, where they would reunite with his family. To the girls, Paul was more than an uncle; he was a mentor, a protector, and a constant source of encouragement.
Paul also had a deep love for tequila, Mexican music, and cooking. Whether he was listening to a lively mariachi tune, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, or sharing a glass of his favorite tequila with friends and family, these passions reflected his warmth, his curiosity, and his joy for life. And as he always said with a smile: "No te preocupes por eso, eh."
Paul will be remembered for his kindness, his perseverance, his gentle humor, and his unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the adventures he shared.
He will be deeply missed.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to his beloved sister, Dr. Paulette Bennett, for the support throughout his life and the tireless and loving care she gave Paul during the last eight months of his life. She was by his side almost continuously, ensuring he had everything he needed. Thanks to her dedication and expertise, Paul remained on this earth longer than he otherwise would have, surrounded by the people who loved him most.
Paul's life will be celebrated on December 6th, 2025 from 5 to 9 o'clock in the evening at Bradshaw & Carter Memorial Home at 1734 W. Alabama St. in
Houston, Texas.
